Rotterdam

The most modern city in the Netherlands began as a fishing village in the 13th century. By 1940, it was becoming an industrial and commercial powerhouse when German bombings destroyed the city center and harbor. However, Rotterdam’s unique architecture now means that many visitors enjoy cycling around this urban, cosmopolitan city. Old Dutch-style houses can be found in the historic Delfshaven, where pilgrims set sail in 1620.
